Why we built Biztree Holdings

After 24 years building software for entrepreneurs, the next chapter is to build a portfolio of AI-powered companies that compound — not chase momentum.

For more than two decades I have built one company: Business in a Box, the operating system that 250,000+ entrepreneurs in 190+ countries use to run their work. Building one product for that long teaches you something the venture-capital cycle never quite captures: the businesses that matter are the ones that compound.

Biztree Holdings is the next chapter of that work. Not a fund. Not a private-equity wrapper. A long-term home for the companies we are building, acquiring, investing in, and scaling — held by people who have actually run the kind of businesses we now want to multiply.

What this is

Biztree Holdings is an AI-powered company builder and holding company. We do four things, all on the same long horizon:

  • Create ventures from inside our venture studio, capitalized from day one.
  • Acquire enduring businesses that can be modernized and scaled with AI, systems, and growth strategy.
  • Invest in companies and founders aligned with our long-term thesis.
  • Scale what we own and back, with operating support — strategy, capital, technology, marketing, leadership.

Why now

AI is rewriting the unit economics of software. The companies that win the next two decades will be the ones that treat intelligence as infrastructure, not as a feature. We have spent the last 24 years learning what an enduring software business actually looks like underneath the marketing. Now we are paired with a tool — modern AI — that can compound that experience across more companies, faster, without losing the discipline.

What we believe

Technology should make people and businesses more capable. The best investments come from owning durable companies, not chasing liquidity. Operators bring something allocators cannot: the scar tissue of having built the thing themselves. And legacy is built slowly — over decades, not quarters.

Where to start

If you are an investor who shares this view of long-term ownership, we would like to talk. If you are a founder building something we should know about, we read every inbound. If you are simply curious, this site is the most complete picture of what we are doing — and this is the first of what will become a regular series of notes from inside the work.
